A term paper means writing a paper based on reading several sources on a particular subject. The procedure for writing a term paper consists of following steps: choosing a subject, finding sources of materials, gathering the notes, outlining the paper, writing the first draft and editing the paper. Try to choose a topic from various sources like newspaper, textbooks or web. Most common error that students make in choosing a topic is that they choose a topic that is too general. After choosing a topic, refer various sources like books and magazines, news story, and periodicals to write on that topic.
While gathering the notes examine books and articles, take care in note taking; get the right kind of material. Then create an outline of the term paper. Do not be in a hurry to finish the paper, review notes to find main sub divisions of your subject, then again divide each main division to find sub-sections for your outline. Then start writing the first draft where you write the paper around the outline. Now it is time to write the final draft. While writing the final draft, just check the spelling, phrases and sentence construction. Check the footnotes, quotes and punctuation.
