Common Mistakes Made While Writing A Term Paper

You can reduce the mistakes if you follow the instructions carefully. Try reading the assignment sheet carefully.
  • All the proper nouns should be capitalized and common nouns should not be capitalized.
  • When the idea changes a new paragraph should be started. Students generally hand over papers with very few paragraph breaks.
  • Commas serve a number of functions. They denote pauses.
  • While you are proof reading, read the sentence out loud. It is doesn't sound in a proper way, the first place you should look is the commas.
Common splices are considered as two complete clauses that should be separate sentences; they are grammatically incorrect because they are separated by a comma. A run on sentence consists of two or more main clauses that are run together without proper punctuation. When we speak we use run on sentences, as we make pauses so that people can understand us. But when we write, we must break the sentences into shorter units so that they do not sound run-on.

For example: The incorrect sentence - The boy showed us his tickets someone gave them to him. Correct sentence - The boy showed us his tickets. Someone gave them to him. Comma splice occurs when two independent clauses are joined with a comma but no conjunction. The comma splice joins two complete sentences with a comma. If you use some of these techniques while writing a term paper it can create wonders.
