A book report is an exposition giving a short summary of a book and a reaction to it. It includes information on the author, title, place and year of publication as well as a summary of the content of the book. Your teacher may have told you to read a book and make a report. So first choose the book and then read it. After you have read it just organize what you are going to say about the book in your report. If you've chosen to read book on fiction then start with the description of the book. The description should include certain elements like setting, time period, main characters, and plot. If you are reading a non-fiction then the descriptive section of your report should include subject and summary.

Remember when you are writing about a fiction or non-fiction you should remember the main idea of the book. So have a good understanding of it before you begin writing. Keep the book beside you while you are writing your report so that you can refer to it when necessary. The draft that you have written should be fleshing out of the ideas from your outline. Thoroughly familiarize yourself with your draft before you put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard.
