Teachers should also discuss with their students the difference between appropriate, referenced use of ideas or quotations and inappropriate use. Teachers should explain their students about permissible paraphrase and impermissible paraphrase and discuss the difference.
Telling students that plagiarism is wrong will be very helpful. You should explain them that plagiarism is like stealing and lying that it is his/her own work. Plagiarism means by fraud you are stealing the credentials of an educated person. When a student copies a paper they are losing the opportunity to develop their skills. But if a student works on the paper he/she not only improves the knowledge of the subject but also on analyzing, organizing, writing, planning, time management and thinking. These skills will help the student in the working world.
Teachers should tell students that if they follow plagiarism they would face certain penalties. For example, if a student cheats on a paper they will get F on the paper. Teachers should take strict action when students cheat while writing the paper.
